La Sony Music ha annunciato oggi la riedizione di “Wish You Were Here“, l’album dei Pink Floyd pubblicato esattamente 50 anni fa, il 12 settembre 1975.
L’album sarà disponibile a partire dal 12 dicembre nelle versioni Deluxe Box Set, CD, digitale, vinile e per la prima volta nella versione Dolby Atmos.
All’interno di “Wish You Were Here 50” ci saranno alcune demo inedite e sei versioni alternative.
Come assaggio dei nuovi contenuti del cofanetto, è stato pubblicato oggi il il brano “The Machine Song (Demo #2, Revisited)”, una registrazione inedita della demo del brano “Welcome To The Machine“:
Ci sono altre interessanti inediti disponibili nella nuova edizione. “The Machine Song (Roger’s demo)”, che viene annunciato come il primo demo casalingo presentato da Roger Waters alla band. Ci sarà inoltre un mix strumentale di “Wish You Were Here” , con in evidenza la pedal steel guitar di David Gilmour. Altra ghiotta presenza quella della versione completa di “Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Pts. 1-9), nella quale le due parti sono state unite in un nuovo mix stereo curato da James Guthrie.
Diversi i formati disponibili. Quelli fisici comprendono le edizioni su 3LP, 2CD, Blu-ray, cofanetto deluxe e ovviamente digitale.
Di particolare interesse il blu-ray, che conterrà l’album originale del 1975, in un nuovo mix in Dolby Atmos curato da James Guthrie. Il dischetto offrirà anche 25 brani bonus, 9 rarità da studio e 16 registrazioni dal vivo. Per queste ultime è stato recuperata una registrazione amatoriale, anche se di ottima qualità, effettuata dal celebre bootlegaro americano Mike Millard in occasione del concerto dei Pink Floyd alla Los Angeles Sports Arena del 26 aprile 1975. L’audio di questo spettacolo è stato restaurato e rimasterizzato grazie a Steven Wilson, che aveva già collaborato con i Pink Floyd per la recente edizione di “Live at Pompeii” e per il remix dell’album solista di Richard Wright “Wet Dream” del 1978.
Dal punto di vista dei contributi visivi, il Blu-ray conterrà tre video con quelli che i Pink Floyd proiettavano sul loro schermo circolare durante i concerti del tour 1975. Sarà inoltre presente un cortometraggio di Storm Thorgerson.

I formati 3LP e 2CD includono l’album originale e le nove tracce bonus da studio.
Il cofanetto deluxe contiene tutto il materiale su 2CD, 3LP (in esclusivo vinile trasparente) e Blu-ray, oltre a un quarto LP in vinile trasparente, “Live At Wembley 1974”, una replica del singolo giapponese 7” “Have A Cigar” / “Welcome To The Machine”, un libro cartonato con fotografie inedite, un comic book con il programma del tour e un poster del concerto di Knebworth.
